Through fashion, Karen Perry and Whitney Whitlock formed a personal bond that led them into business together. Launched in 2016 from Perry’s garage apartment, their initial adventure became a real venture following a number of local collaborations and field trips to different domestic and international markets.
Lucking into some key relationships, the duo secured a number of small-batch creations from lesser-known but highly-sought after designers. “For starters, we wanted to see how people would respond to the unique lines we were targeting, and also to us as operators,” says Whitlock, active in the industry since graduating from the University of Georgia.
The next big plunge was deciding on bricks and mortar. As Perry says, “Our initial startup space wasn’t going to suit our locals forever, and we wanted a venue to live up to the amazing lines of these talented designers. A major priority for us was to offer a warm and inviting space where our clients can feel comfortable.”
In 2018, with big-girl commitment and imagination, the aspiring shopkeepers opened the doors and dreams to a cozy boutique at 515 Fenton called “Five One Five”.
The venture continues, as does the adventure!
